The idea of creating VanesScents Scented Candles originated in 2020 after losing my job during the pandemic. At the moment, it seemed my only option was to retire. Before this enormous shift, that wasn’t even a thought. Needless to say, I was not ready to retire; however, I am a true believer in Devine order.

I spent an amazing 19 years working for a large retailer in the beauty/fragrance department. From this, I took life long friendships, knowledge, and customer stories I hope to never forget. My favorite stories from customers were the memories they would share as they smelled different scents. Whether it was a fragrance or candle, I enjoyed hearing the different places each scent would take them. Occasionally, scents would also bring them to someone special. There were moments I felt as though I traveled back in time with them.

It gives me great pleasure creating different scents to help revisit a sensory experience such as a beautiful garden, tropical vacation, memorable times with loved ones, or even a refreshment. My husband and daughter helped create some of the scent names, and my mother occasionally helps with label placement. I share with you, this black owned business created in our kitchen.
